Assignment Title: Article for the Lay Public

 

Assignment Description: This assignment was to create an article for a specific population to fit into a publication. The article had to be bolstered by interviews of people from the specific population.

 

What I learned: From this assignment I learned how to structure an article for a magazine. I also learned to find a subject that would be relevant for the population that I was wanted to write for.

 

Relevance to the profession: This assignment is relevant to the profession because dietitians often have to prepare materials for the public. Also, dietitians have the ability to reach out to larger populations outside of a hospital setting by writing articles for website and magazines, and understanding this opportunity and making the most of it is a skill that would benefit dietitians as healthcare professionals.
